Rattanaram was highly affected due to knee pain and joint pains for nine years due to the poor quality of drinking water. Their drinking water contains excessive saline, fluoride and high TDS (1700-2600 ppm). Excess fluoride in drinking water causes knee pain, yellowing of teeth and joint pain.
Friend of Rattanaram informed him about Roof Rain Water Harvesting Structure but due to poor financial condition, he was unable to purchase a Reverse Osmosis system for cleaning water or to construct rainwater harvesting structure.
The Bajaj Foundation supported him to construct a roof rainwater harvesting structure. After construction of the RRHS, a family of five members get good quality rainwater for drinking purpose. Rattanaram got rid of the knee and joint pains after continuous use of rainwater for drinking purpose.
